Three Vistas  New!

With views of Mt Shasta, the Sacramento River, and Castle Crags, Three Vistas might very well be the nicest home in the county! It is very large with a three story high beam ceiling and a circular fireplace in the living room. There are three bedrooms each with a queen bed, bathroom, and patio door that opens onto the length-of-the-house deck. The master bath has a separate bathtub with all three scenic views and enough privacy to enjoy them! There are no other houses nearby. The spacious loft at the top of the circular stairway has three twin beds and a Fus Ball table. Downstairs has two more rooms each with a fold out couch. This house is very exceptional and will only be available for a limited time while the owners fulfill employment obligations on the East Coast. If you are planning to treat yourself with a special place to stay, now would be better than later.

Castle Stone Cottage Inn  New!

Castle View

One bedroom, One bath, One Sofa Couch/Bed.  Priced for 2, max is 4.

The bedroom has a Queen Bed. There is a Double Bed in a sleeping alcove.  The Fold Out Couch in the living room is a Double Bed.  The backyard deck is private and the ample front deck has view of Castle Crags.  The cabin was just remodeled so the kitchen is new. There is a complete entertainment center, board games, and the river is a half block away.

Castle View is built into the side of the mountain so the entrance is up a flight of stairs which opens onto a deck.  The extra elevation gives it an unobstructed view of Castle Crags either from the deck or through the sliding glass door between the deck and living room.  The whole cabin is extremely neat and clean but remains cozy reflecting the owner’s personality and excellent good taste.  This is clearly their vacation choice too.

Lookout

On the River, One bedroom, One bath, Small loft with a Double Bed and a Twin Bed, Twin size Sofa/Couch.  Sleeps up to 5.

King bed is in the bedroom with a high beam ceiling so the room feels bigger than it really is.  The double and twin are in a loft that is really, no, I mean really, smaller than it sounds, but with views of Mt Shasta.  The Twin Sofa/ Sleeper is in the living room with the Fireplace and DVD Surround Sound TV. Great little kitchen and the Hot Tub is private.

Lookout is called that because it is built at the Lookout Point in Cave Springs.  It is perched on the edge of a cliff looking up at Mt Shasta and down at the Sacramento River.  It sounds large but it isn’t.  It is great for a two-person getaway but can work for more people as long as smallish people stay in the loft and don’t mind the 4-foot clearance.  This is arguably the best  view in Northern California.

River House

Two bedroom, Two Bath, Upstairs Dorm Room w/4 Double & 2 Twin Beds, On River, w/hot tub, Priced for 8 but can accommodate more.

One bedroom has a King Bed the other has a Queen Bed.  There is a bathroom with tub/shower between them.  It has a large Living room and Kitchen.  The second bathroom has a shower and is accessible from the outside porch and hot tub.  Upstairs is one large attic room with three dormers. It is also carpeted.  It has an Air Conditioner and a Monitor Heater.  The kitchen is equipped for twelve people.

River house is a historic building on the river.  If you know about these things, you might recognize it as a house that was purchased out of a catalogue and built in 1923.  The back yard with a BBQ, Table and Chairs, and Firepit, ends at a wall that drops down to the riverbank.  The owners have maintained the downstairs interior in its original style which means linoleum floors and pressed paper walls.  The upstairs is modernized and the whole house was rewired etc. to bring it up to building code standards.  The owner is a noted landscape architect and rare plant collector.  The yard is fascinating to see.  This house is great for families and other groups.

Rivendell

On the River, Two bedroom, Two Bath, Two Double Futon Couches, Fireplace, Designer Kitchen, On The River, Washer /Dryer, Priced for 4 and max is 6.

The master bedroom has a King Bed and bathroom.  The second bedroom has a Double Bed.  The living room has a beam ceiling and wood floor, a Surround Sound entertainment system, a fireplace, and two Futons Couches.  There is a second bathroom and a laundry room with a small washer and dryer.  There is an outside eating area and a deck right on the riverbank.

Rivendell was recently purchased virtually new by the present owners, and then they remodeled it!  They built a beautiful kitchen, wood floor and wood beams in living room, and central heat/air. They recarpeted the existing new carpet with upgraded material and they furnished the house it with upscale furniture.  The house is 30 yards from the riverbank so they build an auxiliary deck right on the edge of the stream.  They made it extra nice because Rivendell is really their home whenever they can get away from their job!

Sacred Springs 

On the River and Incredible Private Location, Two Bedroom, One Bath, Double Futon Couch, Large Screen TV/DVD, Monitor heat, priced for 4 and no max (only 1 bath)

Queen Bed is in the Bedroom, Twin Bed is in the “Mud Room” which hangs over the riverbank.  Futon Couch is in the living room.  The BBQ area is on the riverbank, and the deck actually hangs over the river.  The whole cabin is rustic with wood walls.

Sacred Springs is the only private five acres on the river that I know of!  Still very rustic, the owner has concentrated on the fundamentals.  There is new up to code electric and plumbing.  There really are springs, but now there is City Water, ”The Best Water On Earth”, in the house.  There is a new roof.  Still a rough dirt road entrance, but it adds to the isolation.  And, if you really do need outside contact there is Cable TV and a telephone.

Old School House North

School House is a charming and very comfortable historical home although it does seem to have more education than any of the other vacation rentals.   At one point it was the school.  Set below sidewalk level on Dunsmuir Ave, it is quiet and only two blocks away from downtown Dunsmuir and four of the best restaurants in Northern California.

School House South, like the North, reflects the care the owners would put into a place they would like to vacation in.  That is because this is exactly where they do vacation.  This is their home away from home, and I am sure you will feel the same way after you stay here one time.  The downtown location is not only convenient, it is quiet.  The freeway is a long ways away and the railroad if faint in the background.  At night there just isn’t much traffic in the metropolitan area of Dunsmuir.

Streamside

One bedroom has a King Bed.  The other bedroom has a Queen Bed.  Both bedrooms have windows that open to the river about ten feet away.  There is a Double foldout Couch in the living room that also has a Fireplace and Satellite TV/VCR.  The master bathroom has a tub and the second bathroom has a shower.

Streamside is a historic house totally renovated right on the River.  You could High Stick from both bedroom windows. There is a little "coffee deck” outside the master bedroom so you can sip tea or whatever in rhythm with the river riffles.  It sits way back from the street and has a gated driveway so it is very private.

Treehouse by Fred Gordon
