NEW! View the Integral Mine Office Cabin Vacation Rental video! Integral Mine Office Cabin is a two bedroom, two bath cabin that is so large and imposing that it reminds one of the mansions that were built along this river when the area was only accessible with horses and later, by railroad. It has the flavor of the old Brown estate, Shasta springs, and Hearst Castle on the McCloud River. It is steeped in history, much of it represented by artifacts still in the house although we thought it best to remove the old firearms from the walls. Originally the Mahon House, it is the oldest house in Castella. Built in 1884, it was the office for the Integral Mine. It had a Post Office in it, and it was the Castella Justice Court for many years. It has always been a home, and most recently it has been the center of the Smith’s most incredible garden. Pick your own fruit! The house is still used for occasional family events.
It may be that its newest reputation will be as “the house with the hot tub.” The large Hot Tub has to be the biggest private hot tub in the North State. It is outside the back door under its own gazebo and accessible from the upstairs As well. There is a deck surrounding three quarters of the house and a pond in the front yard. The main level has a kitchen, dinning room, living room, and bathroom with a shower. Upstairs has a second bathroom with a bathtub, common room with a twin bed in the window copula, another twin bed, and a over/under trundle bed. The master bedroom, also upstairs, has a Queen bed and two bench beds for little people (meaning children). It also has a walk in closet.
Located right in the heart of beautiful Castella, the Sacramento River is just a short walk down the driveway and across the tracks. The fishing access is as close to private as it gets on this river, and the closest swimming holes is just a bit further downstream in Sweetbrier, but still walkable.
